Bowie Pyrite AR-RPM9 steel Button Lock SW
J1942STVideo
CJRB Bowie Pyrite AR-RPM9 steel Button Lock BSW folding pocket knife. Closed knife length 10.8cm. 8cm AR-RPM9 stainless steel blade. Stainless steel handle plates, black stonewash finish. Ambidextrous tips for one-handed blade deployment. Lanyard hole. Pocket clip (reversible on all versions except wooden handle). Button lock/unlock system. The CJRB Pyrite Bowie pocket folding knife stands out from the normal Pyrite (which is an elegant folding knife with a slender design) thanks to its Bowie-style blade, giving it a very strong visual identity! At Tellknives, we love this atypical look, and the groove that further emphasizes the design. With its button locking system, it's a real pleasure to open and close, and we often find ourselves using it as a hobby (when on the phone, for example!). The CJRB Bowie Pyrite Button Lock EDC pocket knife offers great versatility for everyday use, as well as a good grip. The steel and wood handle version is particularly elegant and successful. What's more, it uses a promising new AR-RPM9 tool steel, which CJRB believes will replace D2 steel.
Our verdict:
Derived from the Pyrite on which it was based (logical given the commercial success of this model), the Bowie Pyrite offers a very strong visual with its typical blade and very pronounced throat!
The overall size is ideal for an EDC, and CJRB's (part of ARTISAN Cutlery) build quality is second to none.
The result is a folding knife atypical of current production, highly practical, with meticulous ergonomics and excellent value for money.
What we liked
The design
Ideal EDC dimensions
The flipper
The button lock
Mastery of the combination of flipper AND button lock (some brands have never been able to combine the two systems efficiently; Benchmade and SOG are two examples!)
The "deep carry" pocket clip (unfortunately non-reversible) on wooden versions
The original nylon pouch
The price
And all the variations, because none of them are far-fetched
What we didn't like
The 8mm of blade lost at the start of the guard !!!
Since you can't put your finger on it to advance the grip ... what's the point?!
To sum up, CJRB strikes hard with its 2024 novelty; the EDC Bowie Pyrite AR-RPM9 Button Lock folding pocket knife is a great success, in all its available versions.
